This tour visits key places around Vientiane and Luang Prabang which are famous for the ancient temples, the inspiring Buddhist monks, and the tree-lined boulevards.     day 1: Vientiane Arrival day 2: Vientiane – Vang Vieng day 3: Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang day 4: Luang Prabang day 5: Luang Prabang – Ban Klung day 6: Ban Klung – Khouang Si Waterfalls day 7: Ban Long Phu – Ban Long Lao day 8: Ban Long Lao – Luang Prabang day 9: Luang Prabang Departure
  • day 1: Vientiane Arrival

    Depending on your arrival time, we will arrange tour activities that are most suitable. Once you have checked in, a short introductory meeting will take place to welcome you, and inform of useful itinerary, advice, preparations etc. After a short rest, we will start our city tour with Wat Sisaket - the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure owns remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. Next, we will be able to visit the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. If we have more time, we will visit the imposing Patouxai Monument which is famous for Vientiane's own Arc de Triomphe on our way to the great sacred structure and symbol of Laos, That Luang Stupa. Overnight in Vientiane.

    day 2: Vientiane – Vang Vieng

    After breakfast, our journey to the north will begin by driving through the spectacular countryside towards the mountain region. On the way we will visit the busy and colorful market of Thalat where various hill tribes come to sell their goods and purchase previsions. A next stop of our trip is Vang Sang which is considered as an archeological site dating back 11th century. We will reach our final destination, Vang Vieng that is nestled on a bend of the Nam Song River. The small and peaceful village of Vang Vieng is developed quickly with the advent of tourist however the picturesque scenery with a combination of quiet water and limestone outcrops unchanged for many centuries. After checking into hotel, we take a wander to catch our first glimpse of this hill town. Overnight inVang Vieng.

    day 3: Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang

    Today, we will discover the famous cave of Tham Jang which was once used by local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We will also cross the river to Ban Huai Ngai - a small village to know more the various local lifestyles. Upon leaving Vang Vieng, the roads will begin to become worse but the breathtaking mountain scenery will make for our trip more interesting and adventurous. We wind our way through Phoukhoune and Kasito to Luang Prabang. This famous town with its gleaming temple roofs, fading colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop has been recognized by UNESCO to be "the best preserved traditional city in South East Asia". It is an outstanding example of the fusion of traditional architecture and Lao urban structures with those constructed by the European colonial authorities in the 19th and 20th centuries.     day 4: Luang Prabang

     

    Luang Prabang is the former Royal Palace which has been turned into a national museum, displaying a lovely collection of the artifacts which reflect the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. We will visit this landmark and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong. The temple structures are decorated in different ways with gilded stuccoes and doorways. We will also discover the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the shrine of Wat Aham, the city's oldest temple of Wat Wisunalat and Wat Mai with five tiered roofs. After seeing these sights, we ascend Phousi Hill for a beautiful sunset view of the Mekong River. There are 329 steps leading us on zigzag way past various temples to the sacred, gilded stupa of Wat Phousi at the summit. Overnight in Luang Prabang.

    day 5: Luang Prabang – Ban Klung

    The extremely stunning mountain region around Luang Prabang will be an ideal place for anyone seeking a true adventure and trekking expedition. Today we will cross the mighty Mekong River and visit one of the famous caves in Luang Prabang. The trek begins by visiting the pottery village of Ban Chane and Ban Pha Phet. After an enjoyable stop at Ban Pha Phet, we continue our trek and embark on a boat for a leisurely trip to Paklung in which we will be guests of a Lao family. We will be interested by the architecture of their house which is very simple and dormitory style, no western facilities. Overnight at Ban Paklung.

    day 6: Ban Klung – Khouang Si Waterfalls

    Leaving the peaceful village with the unforgettable memory, today we will have a full day trek, using the local tracks and passing through a variety of hill villages from Ban Jong to Ban Long Phu. On the way we will see many ethnic minorities and have a chance to discover their various lifestyles. On arrival at Ban Saluen, we will cross the Mekong River again and walk to the wonderful Khouang Si Waterfall surrounded by the natural forests. We will swim in the cool and clear pools which is ideal for anyone seeking an enjoyable escape when the heat becomes unbearable. Overnight at Ban Long Phu.

    day 7: Ban Long Phu – Ban Long Lao

    Leaving the peaceful village with the unforgettable memory, today we will have a full day trek, using the local tracks and passing through a variety of hill villages from Ban Jong to Ban Long Phu. On the way we will see many ethnic minorities and have a chance to discover their various lifestyles. On arrival at Ban Saluen, we will cross the Mekong River again and walk to the wonderful Khouang Si Waterfall surrounded by the natural forests.     day 8: Ban Long Lao – Luang Prabang

    Today we spend a half day walking in this beautiful mountainous region. On the way we will see local villagers going about their daily business such as logging, herding buffalo, tilling the field. At Ban Xieng Mouak village, we will catch a local transport called Tu Tuc to drive for some hours back to Luang Prabang. In the afternoon, we will be free to go shopping or simply to relax yourselves. A farewell dinner is taken place at one of Luang Prabang's famous restaurant to celebrate your achievement in completing the trek. Overnight inLuang Prabang.

    day 9: Luang Prabang Departure

    The final day, we will have free time to discover the town and stroll around the shopping areas to buy souvenirs. The trip ends after your transfer to the airport for departure.
