Pick you up from your airport and transfer to your centrally located hotel. After a short relax, we start to discover the charming and fascinating capital with an interesting mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and American influences. We will visit major highlights including the Wat Sisaket - the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple ofWat Prakeo, which previously housed the well – known Emerald Buddha Image. After that, we will explore Lao’s national icon - the precious and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa. We will have a good chance to take some beautiful pictures of the imposingPatuxay Monument that is known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. The Mekong river side will be an ideal place to finish the first day viewing the sunset.
After having breakfast, we will enjoy a beautiful drive north to Nam Ngum Lake, a huge beautiful reservoir dotted with breathtaking small islands. On the way, we will stop to visit a traditional H'mong tribal village and a local Laotian market in which we can buy snacks, food, handicrafts and more. Upon arrival at the lake we will have lunch in a local restaurant with Lao delicacies. After lunch, we can relax for a while before taking a long-tail boat onto the lake to see various fishing villages around the reservoir. The tour will end with a stop off at a traditional salt extraction plant, where we will learn how this actually takes place. Transfer back to Vientiane at around 18.00P.M.
Today, we will visit the Morning Market, a Mecca for those who enjoy traditional handicrafts. Here, we will see a variety of silk, jewelry, wood carving, textiles, wood products and can buy some souvenirs for your friends and loved ones. After that, we will make a visit to Nong Buathong village - a famous weaving vehicle where we will see how Laotian textiles are actually made. Have lunch at a famous Vientiane restaurant, where we will sample traditional Laos cuisine before being transferred to the airport for departure. Trip ends.
