Our second day will start with a visit of the nearby Floating Fishing Village of Chong Kneas, complete with schools, restaurants, shops and even a hospital, all moored in the middle of the massive lake. Then, we will go back to Angkor site to continue our visit of the fabulous temples. Before lunch, we will visit the Kingdom of Jayavarman VII with the famous Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of Leper King, built end of the 12th century. After lunch and this incredible morning, we will learn about the Kingdom of Suryavarman II which is the famous and wonderful Angkor Wat from the 12th century. The largest of the Angkor group and one of the most intact, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, reliefs and sculpture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. This temple is an expression of Khmer art at its highest point of development. The estimated time for construction of the temple is about 30 years. Admire the sunset on Angkor Wat then return to the hotel.

    Meal: Breakfast, Lunch

    day 3: Angkor – Departure

After breakfast you will explore the temples of the last great king in the 12th century. You will begin the day with the discovery of Angkor Thom, the last capital. It was called the “Great City” and as its name implies, it served as the religious and administrative centre of the vast and powerful Khmer Empire. The Royal structures were build of wood and have all perished, but remains of stone monuments let us glimpse at the past grandeur of this once great capital. After Angkor Thom, we will visit the Bayon. It is, with Angkor Wat, one of the favourite monuments among visitors. The Bayon of today with his huge central tower dates to the 13th century and belongs to the third phase of the art style. Jayavarman VII’s goal was to rebuild the capital and to bring the kingdom a new vibrancy, signifying a bright future for the Khmers. The iconography of the four faces on each tower has been widely debated. Then, we will visit one of the most famous temples of Angkor which is Ta Prohm. This temple was left untouched by archaeologists, except for the clearing of a path for visitors. Because of its natural state, it is possible to experience some of the wonder of the early explorers, when they came upon this monument in the middle of the 19th century. In the afternoon, we will finish our tour with the visit of Preah Khan. It is a royal city forming a rectangle surrounded by a moat and similar to Ta Prohm, but with only four enclosures. If time permits it, we will visit Neak Prean.

    End of the tour.
